My Educational Philosophy
As a teacher, I believe it is my duty to strive to help all students reach their individual potential and develop an appreciation
for the education system. If I can develop their enthusiasm for learning, I may influence their decision to pursue higher
education and even possibly become a future teacher. It is my goal to provide students with a physically safe and non-threatening
learning environment to enable them to develop in a positive atmosphere. For this to occur, I will have to foster my understanding
of students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. I believe no student should be afraid of attending school or voicing
their opinions for fear of ridicule. As a teacher, I have zero patience for a lack of tolerance of any kind. Although academic
disciplines in school are important, I feel they are secondary to the learning process itself. Most students become more
willing to study and learn classroom materials when they realize their relevance to their daily lives. It is my goal to facilitate
this belief and strive to make learning meaningful by providing applications and references to things that affect them.
I believe diversity is an important component in any successful education. Students are individuals that vary in ability,
cultural, and economic backgrounds. For this reason, instruction, activities, and assessment should be varied in the classroom
to allow each to achieve their full potential. I believe in developing an appreciation of cultural diversity by raising the
awareness of achievements and beliefs of other nations. I want all my students to take pride in their culture and heritage,
and develop an appreciation for others.
Above all, my goal as an educator is to foster a love of learning in my students. I wish to provide them with the means
to learn, the environment in which learning is capable, and the resources with which they can achieve.
